Virginia Busted Mugshots
Virginia is the Cass County seat and the second city in the selected population order, with a 2020 Census population of 1,514. The official Virginia city-government page lists City Hall at 153 S. Front Street, Virginia, Illinois 62691, telephone 217-452-7786, email cityofva@casscomm.com, and Police Chief Louis Kink. The county’s official contact map separately lists Virginia Police at 217-452-3500. County matters can instead involve Sheriff Devron Ohrn’s department.
A Virginia arrest can begin with city police, the Cass County Sheriff, or another agency. The city where an arrest occurs does not identify the holding facility. Historical Journal-Courier Police news entries identify Morgan County Jail for reviewed Virginia and other Cass arrests, but the current destination must be confirmed. Cass’s current official county profile lists no county jail and no public roster.
That means a photo request and a current-custody question may go to different offices. Ask who made the arrest, who received the person, and who created or retains the image. Then use the Circuit Clerk or Judici for the case disposition.
The Cass County contact map is the official source captured for the Virginia Police routing below.

The county map is a jurisdiction starting point, not a Virginia booking feed.
Where Virginia Busted Mugshots Appear
Virginia has no official arrest log, daily blotter, current-booking view, or police feed to check. That leaves four practical sources: the city's government and FOIA pages for records requests, the county Sheriff for agency and custody routing, local news for discovery, and the court for what happened afterward.
| Channel | What it can answer | Status | Virginia use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Virginia Police contact | Arresting-agency confirmation and report routing | Official | Use the county-listed 217-452-3500 number for police contact. |
| Virginia City Hall FOIA | Written public-record request and custodian instructions | Official | Use City Hall at 153 S. Front Street and the current linked FOIA document. |
| Cass Sheriff | County-road involvement and receiving-facility verification | Official | Call 217-452-7718 when the agency or destination is unclear. |
| Receiving facility | Current custody, release, or transfer | Verify first | Ask Virginia Police or Cass Sheriff which facility received the person. |
| Cass court | Case filing and later disposition | Official | Use the Circuit Clerk and Judici, remembering that older records may be in books. |
| News and secondary pages | Selected stories or unofficial copies | Editorial or unofficial | Use only as a lead, with agency, date, state, and disposition checks. |
The countywide Cass County arrest-record treatment explains why the roster is absent and why the receiving facility has to be confirmed for every booking.
Busted in Virginia: Find a Booking
Two contacts cover different halves of the search. Virginia's city contact handles one part. Cass County's contact handles the rest. Start with the agency behind the event, then ask where the person was actually received.
- Call Virginia Police using the county-listed 217-452-3500 number. Give the event date, location, and name if known.
- Call City Hall at 217-452-7786 for the current FOIA officer, delivery method, and municipal records instructions.
- Call Cass Sheriff at 217-452-7718 when county deputies were involved or the holding facility is unclear.
- Request the arrest-information record and a booking photo separately, asking the office to identify the actual custodian.
- Check the Cass Circuit Clerk or Judici for the court continuation. A state-prison profile belongs in the IDOC search, not the local booking path.
A missing third-party listing proves nothing. It cannot show that no arrest happened. An old Morgan County reference cannot prove current custody either. Write down the date and the agency's answer each time you call.
Virginia Busted Records and FOIA
The city-government page links current Virginia FOIA information, including "FOIA Information, Section 4" at the listed document address. Follow the city's own instructions. Don't assume a police-station address or a police records email. City Hall is the confirmed municipal contact and can name the current records officer.

No dedicated police station address appears in the official listings. Confirm the current records custodian before mailing or emailing any request.
Give the city the arrest date, location, agency, and the person's name. Add a report number if you have one. Name the exact records you want. Request the booking photo only if one was taken and can be released. If the Sheriff or a receiving facility holds the image, ask the city to identify that office. Replies vary: no record, no image, image withheld, or a record held elsewhere.
Illinois FOIA generally allows five business days for a response. Extensions are permitted in listed circumstances. Check any copy fee and electronic format with City Hall. Fee rules from another municipality do not transfer.
Virginia Arrests and the Receiving Facility
Historical Journal-Courier reports named Morgan County Jail for Virginia-related bookings. The Morgan County Sheriff's Office sits at 300 West Court Street, Jacksonville, Illinois 62650. Its phone is 217-243-6123, and it serves as the official neighboring-county contact. Its page carries no current Cass roster. The old news pattern does not guarantee every Virginia arrestee goes there today. The Cass County Sheriff's office is the right place to confirm the current destination.
Ask Virginia Police or the Cass Sheriff about the person's status. Was he released, transferred, or booked outside the county? Custody changes fast. Treat it as a same-day question. The arresting agency stays the starting point for the report and the original photo, even when another facility holds the person.
Local custody note: Virginia is the county seat, but official sources place no current county jail there, so verify the facility before searching any generic "Cass County Jail" directory.
Virginia Booking Photo Questions
Treat the arrest report and the booking photo as two separate requests. Ask the city or the Sheriff whether a photo was even taken. Ask which office holds it and whether Illinois law allows its release. A missing image online proves nothing. A copied photo doesn't prove anyone is still in custody either.
Give the record custodian everything you can. That means date, location, agency, report or case number, and your preferred electronic format. You can also ask when the person was received, discharged, or transferred. In Virginia this matters. The county publishes no public roster, and old references to receiving facilities guarantee nothing about current practice.
Warrants add another wrinkle. The public case number and the arrest event can carry different dates. Don't assume they match. For outcomes, only the court record counts: the Circuit Clerk handles open county cases, and IDOC applies only after someone enters state custody.
Illinois Section 2.15(e) also restricts some law-enforcement photo posts on social networks, with exceptions. That partly explains why Virginia's official pages offer contact and FOIA information but no booking image. It doesn't erase juvenile, confidential, or pending-investigation limits. Any written response should name the custodian and flag whatever was withheld.
Virginia’s County-Seat Court Path
The Circuit Clerk's office sits in Virginia at 100 E. Springfield Street, P.O. Box 203, Virginia, Illinois 62691. Call 217-452-7225, fax 217-452-7552. Weekday hours run 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Clerk maintains criminal proceedings and points searchers to the Cass Judici case search. Criminal court generally meets Mondays and selected Thursdays.
Older records have a local wrinkle. According to the Clerk, records before 1998 are indexed by book, while everything later is computer-indexed through Judici or a public terminal. A historic Virginia arrest may need a clerk-assisted search rather than a simple name lookup. Eighth Circuit rules also govern first appearances and detention-release matters, so the arrest date alone won't pin down a court time.
Plenty can happen after a booking: a complaint, first appearance, bond action, dismissal, acquittal, supervision, probation, sentence, or no public filing at all. Juvenile, sealed, impounded, and confidential matters carry separate limits.
Virginia Crime News and Blotter Gaps
Virginia's minutes page and its city-government materials have a narrow job. They name police leadership and cover city business. They are not a daily arrest archive. For local crime news, the Beardstown newspaper's wider Cass stream is a better bet, as is the Journal-Courier's public-safety and Police beat coverage. Neither gives you a steady Virginia mugshot feed.
A news story can still point you to the right office. It can't confirm current custody or a final court result. Check the article's date, agency, and charge. Then request the official record and turn to the Circuit Clerk for the outcome.
Virginia Cases That Move to IDOC
The official Illinois Department of Corrections search covers people sentenced or otherwise recorded in state custody. A profile may include images, location, status, admission and release dates, and sentencing fields. It won't cover someone newly arrested in Virginia who is still waiting for a local first appearance. It's no substitute for a local booking photo.
Use the Cass court record to understand a sentence. Then check IDOC for the state profile. An empty IDOC result doesn't mean no Virginia arrest ever happened.
Unofficial Virginia Mugshot Results
The secondary indexes hold no verified Virginia-specific Illinois booking page. Mugshots.com carries a Cass County section. That one is unofficial, though, and it can mix agencies or stale records. Busted Newspaper, Recently Booked, Arrests.org, and Mugshots.zone showed no Cass Illinois section at all. A Cass result from the wrong state isn't a Virginia record.
Start with official city, Sheriff, court, and state sources. Never rehost a photo. If a copied result is wrong or outdated, preserve the source. Then use the publisher's free correction route, the court process where eligible, and the search engines' stale-content tools where available.
