What This Reference Does
Illinois makes many arrest and booking records accessible, but a useful search still depends on knowing which agency made the arrest and which office holds the next record. The Cass County Sheriff’s Department, led by Sheriff Devron Ohrn, provides the county contact. Beardstown, Ashland, and Virginia have their own municipal paths. The Circuit Clerk and Judici show what happened after booking, while the Illinois Department of Corrections search covers state-prison custody. Written requests fill the gaps where no public roster or booking feed exists.
This reference gathers those official paths, local contacts, records-request steps, custody boundaries, and court cautions in plain language. It does not create a Cass County jail record, copy a booking photograph, or replace an agency response.
Sources and Scope
The county, Sheriff, municipal police, Illinois courts, IDOC, Illinois law, state archives, and local news sources were reviewed for the Cass County material. The current official county profile lists “No Jail,” so there are no invented detention-facility pages or fictional roster links. Historical reports naming Morgan County Jail are labeled as historical verification clues, not current custody promises.
- The home page explains agency-first arrest lookup, booking fields, FOIA requests, state law, court disposition, custody changes, and historical records.
- Most Wanted explains the absence of a verified public wanted list and the safe Sheriff and Circuit Clerk warrant-check path.
- Crime News & Mugshots maps Beardstown newspaper, Journal-Courier, WRMS, agency releases, and secondary coverage without treating news as a complete booking feed.
- Beardstown, Virginia, and Ashland pages preserve each city’s real police contact, records route, shared county context, and local publication limits.
- The Illinois DOC search is kept separate because state-prison images and status do not describe a new Cass arrest.
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately operated reference, not a Cass County office, Illinois government agency, sheriff’s department, jail, or corrections department. We cannot release, hold, transfer, or locate a person in custody. We cannot post bond, arrange a visit, send money, or provide legal advice.
- We cannot confirm a current arrest, release, transfer, or charge.
- We cannot decide whether a photograph or report is releasable.
- We cannot change a court file, state profile, or outside copy.
- Phone numbers, forms, fees, addresses, and public portals can change.
Only the originating public body can verify its own record. The information here is a starting reference and should be checked before a request is sent.
